Programs
Creative Movement gives two year-olds creative development, rhythmic skills, and a foundation for motor development. This 25-minute class allows children to move freely and develop a love for dance. All Creative Movement classes include both Ballet and Tap.
Tiny Tutus Program is for preschool children. Students must be three years of age by September 1st to begin in the fall. Dance instruction includes ballet, tap, jazz, tumbling, with a strong emphasis on creative movement. Creative movement enhances the development of fine motor skills as they run, skip, leap, stretch, coordinate, isolate and move to music. Social skills are developed through collaborative and cooperative games. Students also learn basic classroom behavior and manners such as learning to take turns, following another dancer or being the leader, waiting patiently, working together with others, and having a positive attitude. The curriculum is designed to gently introduce these young students to a structured and safe classroom environment while instilling in them the physical and emotional confidence to explore and create.
Combination Classes are designed to be developmental in nature. Combo classes include Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Tumbling and are require for dancers in Kindergarten through the 3rd Grade. We strive to make each class new, exciting, and most importantly, FUN!!!!
Ballet is the foundation of dance. It teaches proper placement, alignment, balance, technique and control. All of these elements are extremely important in any form of dance. Students focus on improving strength, control, and body positioning in barre and center work, as well as learning all of the vocabulary and terminology of Ballet. A great class for any student in the 4th Grade and up. Dancers will be placed in the correct class level by age and ability.
Pointe is offered to those students who have mastered the knowledge and technique of ballet and are ready for the next level. Strength and control are extremely important in this dance form. Instructor approval is necessary.
Jazz is a stylized, fast-paced form of dance that employs many of the same concepts of ballet. This form of dance includes a variety of different skills and other technical aspects, and is paired with music that is popular and upbeat. Students focus on strength, technique, memorization, and terminology. Classes are available for dancers in the 4th through 12th grade. Dancers will be placed in the correct class level by age and ability.
Modern is a dance form based on creative expression. It is designed to develop the mind, body and spirit to be an expressive communicator through movement. Structured technical exercises that condition the body for strength, coordination and flexibility are developed. Physical activities which focus on the aspects of space, time, shape, and movement dynamics are explored through individual work as well as group participation.
Tap is all about rhythm! This exciting and challenging form of dance is executed by creating combinations of sounds with the shoes on your feet. Students focus on rhythm, timing, and coordination. Classes offered to students in the 4th Grade and up.
Hip Hop is the style most frequently seen on television and music videos. Movements are fast, funky, and intricate at times. A Jazz background is recommended. Classes offered to students 4th Grade and up. Adult classes also available!
Technique classes are available to any student wishing to improve upon the technical aspects of dance including their jumps, leaps and turns. Classes will cover both Jazz and Ballet technique. Classes are offered to dancers in the 6th through 12th Grade.
The Company is strictly for those dancers who have a passion for dance and want to take it to the next level!! Dancers perform in a variety of shows throughout the year as well as compete with their dances in the Spring. The Studio’s instructors place higher expectations on the dancers in The Company in and out of the studio. Please contact The Studio for audition dates!
